Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for two (2) Environmental Coordinator positions. Due to anticipated needs, we are currently recruiting for career oriented individuals to fill this role. These positions are based in Anchorage, Alaska. Reporting to the Permitting Team Leader, the Environmental Coordinator is responsible for supporting and providing technical, process and administrative coordination for environmental permitting and regulatory approval for exploration and development projects. The Environmental Coordinator will be a key member of the Permitting Focus Area Team and will work with project teams and with Red Dog Operations. Responsibilities: Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures Ensure alignment of project environmental and community program activities with Teck\u2019s Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Management Standards; Indigenous Peoples and Human Rights Policies; and Social, Environmental and Regulatory Approvals (SERA) framework Work collaboratively with Community Relations team members to inform key stakeholders and communities of interest (COI) Assist with preparation of state and federal environmental permit documents Assist with preparation of environmental management plans Assist with preparation of Requests-for-Proposal and proposal review processes Manage the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of baseline studies and contribute to strategic planning of permitting to maintain project milestones\u00a0 Manage a multi-disciplinary consulting team, including selection of consultants for the project, taking into consideration input from the project team, and ensure alignment of work between consultants and project team members Assist with health and safety requirements of field programs Coordinate meetings and engagement events with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and local stakeholders Coordinating and tracking responses to regulatory review comments and information requests Provide technical, administrative and project management support (i.e., assist with schedule, budget, scope changes, risk log, document control) for permitting projects Prepare status summaries and schedule reporting materials and work with managers and directors on approval of the documentation Assist project teams in identifying regulatory requirements that may be applicable for proposed projects Other duties as required Qualifications: Engineering or Science degree\/diploma in Forestry, Biology, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field 4 to 7 years or more of professional experience in environmental management, environmental assessment, or regulatory field Specific knowledge and experience with permitting under the following legislation and programs is an asset: NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, SPCC, State of Alaska - APDES, Waste Management, and Reclamation and Closure Planning Experience with preparation of State of Alaska Environmental Impact Statements\/Assessments is an asset An equivalent combination of education and experience in environmental management, permitting and community relations will also be considered Ability to effectively coordinate with internal staff and across government agencies and work with managers to identify and resolve issues Experience in preparing and\/or coordinating permitting applications in the resource development industry or demonstrated similar work Excellent organization skills and proactive work style Skilled at using MS Excel and other software such as MS Project, PowerPoint and Word Understanding of and experience in the extractives industry and projects, especially mining is an asset Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills and experience in working co-operatively with a broad range of stakeholders High level of integrity, respect and solutions-focused with a commitment to respectful and inclusive community engagement Understanding of the Northwest Alaska region and\/or experience living or working in the region an asset Experience working with indigenous people in remote communities is an asset Red Dog is a drug\/alcohol free work place and provides competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits program.
