North Washington Region Forester','01012395','!*!The Region Forester position reports directly to the Region Manager with accountabilities to Western Timberlands Chief Forester for silviculture activities. It is a full time non-exempt role, located in Centralia, Washington. This position is responsible for the oversight of the silviculture strategy and execution for the four areas that make up approximately 815,000 acres in the Northern Washington region. Key Functions:Work with the N. Washington Region Manager and Chief Forester to set a strategic silviculture direction that aligns with financial, operations and marketing objectives. Communicate, build understanding and support, develop/execute implementation plans with operating areas to effectively implement those strategies.Analyze the growth/yield and financial implications of silviculture options. Develop and maintain silviculture standards, targets and best practices.Inspect on the ground and resolve inconsistencies/issues. Facilitate planning/review processes and sharing of best practices among areas.Maintain silviculture key metrics (collect, summarize, communicate). Work together with the N. Washington operating Area Managers to set expectations for field foresters, communicate issues and progress, resolve issues and assist with goal-setting. Budgeting, performance management and cost tracking. Represent foresters and forestry related issues on the N. Washington lead team. Collaborate with the Strategy and Technology team to capture applied forestry technology and data opportunities.Work with the Regeneration business to capture seedling quality and cost advantages.Lead and manage one or more Western Timberlands silviculture functional teams. Set priorities, establish best practices, monitor and analyze results, and lead the discussion and adoption of best practices - even in the face of local resistance to adoption.Partner with the Environmental Management Systems group to address forestry related regulatory issues.','!*!Qualifications:BS in Forestry or related field. Minimum 8 years of experience in related job experience.Ability to manage large projects and initiatives and inspire commitment to forestry direction, practices and change.Ability to proactively resolve issues across functions and teams, as well as external issues and relations. Proven track record of accomplishments driving financial performance improvement and maximizing returns.
