It is a job opportunity with one of Marriott International's franchisees. \u00a0Please apply via online at -\u00a0 Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Prince Resorts Hawaii, Inc.\u00a0The franchisee controls all aspects of the hotel's employment policies and practices, including the selection and hiring process.\u00a0If you accept a position at this hotel you will be employed by a franchisee and not by Marriott International. \u00a0Job Description\u00a0Responsible for the maintenance of the resort golf courses (Mauna Kea & Hapuna) according to resort standards. \u00a0Responsible for oversight of the MKRS Grounds operations and the Director of Landscaping. \u00a0Prepare the departments annual operating and CIP budget. Develop and maintain cultural practice programs. \u00a0Ensure that federal, state, OSHA regulations are adhered to. \u00a0Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the departments. \u00a0Knowledgeable in the construction and maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers and trees; of the planting, cultivating, pruning and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees. \u00a0Knowledgeable in the proper use of herbicides, pesticides, various fertilizers and soil conditioners. Good working knowledge of drainage control methods, irrigation systems, including wells, pumps and automatic controls. \u00a0Possess a pesticide license or able to acquire one within 6 months of hire date. \u00a0Knowledge of proper equipment maintenance practices and proper equipment operations. \u00a0Able to hire, train and motivate a union staff, along with any salaried assistants or superintendents on staff.Essential Duties:\u00a0Prepare annual operating and CIP budget.Establish proper programs for maintaining the golf courses, grounds and equipment at Resort Standards.Make recommendations on changes for improvements to the courses landscaping, layout, etc.Ensure that federal, state, OSHA regulations are adhered to.Responsible for the daily operations of the department, special projects and the maintenance of the golf courses to meet resort quality standards.Knowledgeable in agronomic practices of warm season grass used on the courses.Manage department following company policies, procedures, and the terms and conditions of the CBA.Manage labor and other department expenses to reach profitability goals.Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, counsel, and discipline department staff in a union setting.Review, approve, and verify department payroll.Ensure safety training and standards are maintained.Initiate, review and approve purchase orders.Negotiate contracts with outside contractors.Respond and resolve guest and employee concerns in a timely fashion.Prepare required reports.Perform other related duties as assigned or required.Other Duties:Attend resort management meetings.Maintain department bulletin boards.Review equipment maintenance logs.Conduct regular department meetings (i.e. safety meeting, etc.).Issue and inventory supplies, uniforms, tools, etc.Keep office clean and organized.Working Conditions: \u00a0Work in a normal golf course and office environment.Work outdoors in various weather conditions.Work Hours:Must be able to work schedule set by the Director of Golf Operations or General Manager.Must be able to work long and irregular hours.\u00a0Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week.Equipment Use:\u00a0Proficient in the use of a computer and with the resorts word, spreadsheet and other required software. i.e. irrigation.Ability to use the telephone and radio.Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines.Operate vehicle or utility/golf cart.Ability to operate all equipment used to maintain a golf course.Sprayer, hammer, weed eater, or other tools.Communication Demands:Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, managers, vendors and guests/clients.Ability to communicate over the phone or radio.Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to golf course operations and other Resort Departments professionally.Minimum Qualification Requirements:Degree in Agronomy/related field or equivalent in work experience.6 years related work experience as a Superintendent; multiple course management a plus.Skills to effectively supervise and manage the department and meet goals.Ability to analyze and report financial information.Ability to multi-task.A valid Drivers license needed.Must be able to obtain a Commercial Certification to purchase pesticides within first 6 months.This company is an equal opportunity employer.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0frnch1 Additional Info Minimum Age 18 years old Job Industries Food & Restaurant
