DAVEY RESOURCE GROUP, Inc. (DRG) has an opportunity for a Lead Inventory Arborist in Indianapolis, Indiana. DRG is a leader in urban forestry throughout the U.S. and Canada.

 

DUTIES: The Environmental Consulting service group at DRG is focused on meeting the needs of our client's short- and long-term urban forestry goals. Primary duties will be to provide urban forestry services throughout Indiana (approximately 60% of work) and midwest/southern regions (approximately 40% of work). This leadership role will require teamwork ethic, quality science and best practice-based work, and efficient performance and communication with field support staff as well as management and sales teams.

Typical clients include local and state government agencies, not for profit agencies, architects, engineers, developers, and private landowners. This position will be responsible for all aspects of project implementation including fieldwork, data analysis, report writing, project delivery, client interaction, and related sales and administrative tasks. The majority of work in this position will take place in an outdoor or field environment (90%+) and will require a skill set in tree inventories, forest assessments, management planning, letter and report writing, contractual community forester staffing, tree risk assessment, tree appraisal, plant health care assessment and coordination, tree planting assessment and coordination, mature tree pruning or removal coordination, young tree maintenance care, and tree protection and preservation planning. At times during the growing season this position may support restoration management operations in a field team support role.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

*Ability and willingness to travel (near 40% of a work year). *Ability to work outdoors and hike in varying terrain and weather conditions. *Proficient working knowledge of computers, including Word, Excel, Google Applications, and GIS/GPS systems. *Minimum of 3 years experience in urban forestry. *International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist and Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ) *Indiana Certified Pesticide Applicator or ability to gain certification. *Current Driver's License and Driving Record in good standing.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Full-time hourly position with potential for overtime pay. Compensation based on qualifications and experience.
